The Biggest Reset Yet
This year I decided I needed to take a step back from social media and give myself room to just be. As a creator, it’s easy to get caught up in trends, algorithms, and the constant stream of inspiration coming from everyone else. But sometimes, too much inspiration can become noise. Taking a break has reminded me how much I enjoy creating when I’m not influenced by what everyone else is doing. I’ve been reconnecting with my own ideas, trusting my instincts, and allowing my creativity to flow a little more freely.
For a while now, I’ve often found myself struggling between finding a balance between art, skincare, and of course —motherhood. Accepting that these are all parts of who I am, I no longer feel the need to separate them into different boxes. My love for beauty and self-care inspires my artwork, while my artistic background influences the way I experience and express beauty. I’m learning that creativity doesn’t have to look one particular way. Sometimes it’s a new piece of art, sometimes it’s a skincare ritual, and sometimes it’s simply finding beauty in the everyday moments around me.
Life at home is looking a little different these days too. As a mom of four, so much of my world has revolved around the baby and toddler years, now, my youngest is four, and my oldest is preparing to start high school next year. It feels like the beginning of an entirely new chapter. My husband and I are finding more time for each other; coffee dates alone and finding new ways to date each other has become a weekly game of cat and mouse. I’m still very much in the thick of motherhood, but I’m also beginning to rediscover parts of myself that have been waiting for a little more space.
Right now, I feel more connected to my creative self than I have in a long time. I’m finding my footing, embracing the changes happening around me, and giving myself permission to evolve. Maybe taking a step back wasn’t about doing less creatively. Maybe it was about making room for the kind of creativity that feels like my own.
Here’s to a new chapter, a little more balance, and creating simply because it feels good.
